Archie was born prematurely at 26 weeks – he was not a well-baby and had many stays in hospital with only three weeks spent at home. At eight months Archie became very tired with fighting for life and he died in hospital with care from his local hospice. His mum, Jo, being on her own was faced with arranging and paying for Archie’s funeral. Naturally, as a mother, she wanted the best she could have but realised that there were limitations.
Jo applied to the Child Funeral Charity and was referred by one of the staff at the hospice. The referral was received at 11.00am and by 3.00pm the Charity was able to confirm their contribution of 50% of the funeral costs.
Both Jo and the referrer said that they were grateful not only for the payment but also for the speed on reaching the agreement.
I must say that I have found your charity outstanding in the way you have dealt with this matter and so promptly, has been overwhelming. I only became aware of this case from my colleague at the beginning of the week, and as it pulled at my heart strings I felt I had to sort this, which would never have been possible without your input and very generous donation.
Substance Misuse Support Worker
Just a few words to say this is the first contact I have had with your organisation and I have found that you have been very supportive with respect to the help and advice you have given to the Mother and family that have sadly experienced the loss of such a precious young life.
The flowers for the family arrived on the day requested and were lovely, and I know the family appreciated the assistance that was provided by your organisation.
I will certainly be recommending your service in future.
